First Sleepover!

Sophie had her first sleepover last week with her friend Claire. Chris & Amy, Claire's parents, were at the hospital welcoming their second daughter, Emma, and we took Claire for the night. Considering they're two, things went very well and we actually got a good night's sleep (amazingly enough).

At first the girls both wanted to sleep in Sophie's bed, but we didn't think there would be enough room...

 So we brought in the blow-up mattress so that they could both sleep together...

 But it quickly turned into this... so in the end Claire slept on the blow-up mattress, and Sophie slept in her bed.

Big Girl Bed!

We made the move to a big girl bed! Although she never really tried to get out of her crib, we thought it was time to make the switch. Why the rather ghetto set up you ask? Well, thinking we were prepared, we were in fact not, and didn't have a crib railing. So Dave jerry rigged the side of the crib for the first few nights. She didn't seem to mind though. She was just proud to be sleeping in a big girl bed! 

Not to worry. We now have a proper toddler bed railing.

Greene Towne School Spring Picnic

Sophie's school had their spring picnic last weekend and Sophie had great time with her friends. It was held on Lemon Hill, just a few blocks from our house. It's always good to see her play with her friends from school.

Easter

Happy Easter! 

We spent the beautiful weekend in New Jersey with the Sharps. Sophie tried her hand at dying Easter eggs for the first time. While her hands ended up as colored as the eggs, she had a good time.

On Sunday we went to the Yacht Club in Cape May for an Easter brunch and egg hunt. And much to Sophie's delight, an appearance of the Easter Bunny!

Once she realized that the eggs contained candy ("choc it") she got into it and quickly filled up her basket. The Elmo basket was a huge hit! Thanks Mom Mom!

Happy 2nd Birthday Sophie!

We celebrated Sophie's 2nd birthday this entire weekend! Beginning with a special birthday crown and glasses at breakfast on Friday morning, which she refused to take off, until we promised that she could wear them again that night...

 ...to a special birthday celebration at school, where she got a special crown.

 I'm not entirely sure what the birthday celebration consists of - but she got to hold a a globe and blow out a candle. That's her teacher Ms. Heather.

 She also spent time with her best friend at school Claire.

 Friday night we had a birthday dinner at a new mexican restaurant in our neighborhood, where she order the BPJ & Fluff quesadilla. Decedent for sure. And we all went home with fluff all over us.

On Saturday we had a family part at our house, where the celebrations continues. She wore her crown for the while day and enjoyed all of the friends and family who came to visit.

 And then everyone sang to the birthday girl, and she blew out the candle on her coconut cake (in honor of her week in St. John where she enjoyed the fresh coconuts).

And then on Sunday morning she opened her presents with her Nana, Pap Pap, and great grandma (mom and dad too).

A Week in Paradise

Last week we took a big family vacation to St. John. We rented a house on the Cruz Bay side, on the boarder of the national park. It was an amazing week of good food, snorkeling, swimming, hiking, and generally just unwinding. Sophie loved the sun, sand, water and all of the attention from grandparents, her aunt and cousin.

 Here's a shot of the house from the driveway. It was made up of three separate buildings, with a pool separating two of them, and a courtyard separating the other two.

Two Year Check-up

Sophie had her two year check-up yesterday. The doctor also confirmed that her bronchiolitis is completely gone, thank goodness. She's a healthy little girl. 29 lbs, 34 3/4 inches tall. Here are a few pictures that her teacher took over the last month. She definitely a happy girl at school!
