Well, the song is right: No more monkeys jumping on the bed. On Monday night Sophie was jumping on our bed, fell off, and hit her mouth on the bed side table. Her lip was split and her front teeth were missing, so I rushed her to the emergency room. After several x-rays they discovered that her teeth had actually been knocked back up into her gums. She also needed to get 3 stitched in her lip. She was a real trooper through the whole ordeal. She was out of school all this week and is healing well. Her lip is much better, swelling is going down, and it looks like she won't need any oral surgery - apparently it's very likely that the teeth will come back down on their own.
Here she is post-stitches. She just woke up from being sedated.
She was soon on the road to recovery with lots, and lots, of popsicles
And some good friends stopped by to cheer her up - Claire & Liora
And by Sunday her lip was much better and swelling has gone down tremendously. She won't have front teeth for a while, but now that she's learned how to eat ("open wide and put it in the side"), she's a happy girl again!
