First Day of School 2017

Well, summer is finally over (author sadly wipes tear from eye as writing), and school is back in session. The Tuesday after Labor Day Sophie started 2nd grade at Cynwyd Elementary. This year she has Mrs. Murphy and so far loves her. A few of her classmates were in Ms. Henry's class last year, and she's also met some new friends.

The big second grader on her first day! She was the appropriate mixture of excited and nervous. I can remember so well these first day stomach butterflies!

Sophie with her school's mascot. They make drop-off on the first day really fun, blasting music, balloons, and all teachers standing outside to greet everyone. 

And then a week later, on September 11, Lauren started her last year of pre-school. She was much more excited than nervous for the first day. Here's the big girl ready to get back into Mrs. Kiernan's class at Bala House Montessori! When we arrived she ran right into the classroom - no time for goodbyes for Mom and Dad.

 And here we are - in September already! Sophie started at her new school, Cynwyd Elementary, which is about a 4 block walk from our house. She's in Miss Henry's 1st grade class and so far loves it. Lauren started at Bala House Montessori School in their primary program. She has two years to go before starting Kindergarten. She's in Miss Kiernan's class and also loves it.

First Day of School

The girls went back to school the day after Labor Day this year. Here are the cuties in front of our house. Lauren headed to her second year at the Toddler House and Sophie headed to her first day of Kindergarten!

On September 2 Sophie started her last year of pre-school and Lauren started her first. Lauren was a little weepy when we dropped her off, but Sophie held her hand an walked her in and that was that. Sophie has been such a supportive big sister and since the first day has walked Lauren into her building (which is separate from Sophie's) every day.

First Day of Primary School!

Today Sophie started at the primary school! After two years at the Toddler House she is now with the "big kids." Greene Towne opened up a new classroom this year for the ADM kids (Add Day Montessori), and it's beautiful. Huge, with a separate eating area, practical life area, and movement room. She's also with some friends that were with her the first year of the Toddler House.

Last week Sophie started preschool at Greene Towne School. The school is about 10 blocks from our house, and one of her classmates lives down the block from us, so we've been walking in together. So far Sophie seems to really like it. A day of play, who wouldn't? (although since it's Montessori, they call it "work".)
